Sahajanand Medical Technologies, the largest cardiac stent manufacturer in India inaugurated the first phase of its stent and cardiac device manufacturing facility in the Medical Devices Park. The newly inaugurated facility is spread over 2 lakh sq.ft housing a manufacturing and research and development unit. This will be SMT’s 2^nd manufacturing unit after Surat and it will be manufacturing transcatheter aortic valves, and heart occluders used for all age groups.

The R &D facility employing over 300 scientists, will work on developing advanced interventional, structural, endovascular, and closure products in the domain of cardiology. The unit will manufacture 1.2 million stents, and 2 million catheters at its full capacity, creating 2,000 job opportunities. Bhargav Kotadia, MD, SMT stated that the new addition id designed and planned in a way to accommodate a new array of cardiac care products in the coming years.

KT Rama Rao, Telangana IT and Industries minister graced the occasion as the chief guest and stated that over the years Telangana has recognized the medical device sector as a growing one providing an infinite opportunity for expansion and investment. He added that they have made sure that the state provides a skilled workforce, favorable policies, and best-in-class infrastructures to companies. He also added that the facility will help in boosting the medical device domain and provide indigenously made, good quality, affordable healthcare products to our citizens.
